International Issues and Trends Recap

Learning about the international early childhood field both through a discussion with a professional as well as through early childhood websites has given me a better idea of the many differences and similarities in the world. The one discussions that I was able to have regarding poverty with an early childhood professional really shed light on the issue in the Dominican Republic and how children are still happy despite living in their extremely poor conditions. Another consequence of learning about the international early childhood field was through the Save the Children website. This website gave me so much information about countries all over the world, especially those dealing with poverty. The third consequence of learning about the international early childhood field relates to the Zero to Three organization. I studied many areas of the website and found many useful resources for not only professionals but for parents as well.

One goal that I have relating to international awareness of issues and trends is to continue to have conversations with professionals abroad. Although it was difficult to get responses from the professional that I was in contact with I still found the information and conversation to be valuable and eye-opening. Hopefully continuing to talk to early childhood professionals in other areas of the world will keep me up-to-date with issues and trends and help me to apply strategies in my own classroom.

  2. Robin,
It has been a pleasure reading your blog post and learning alongside you and our other classmates. It's great learning about innovative approaches other countries are taking to respond to different issues that impact children and families wellbeing. Poverty is an issue, I believe most countries deal with, it was also great that you were able to connect with a ECE professional from another country. The greatest of luck with your professional endeavors Robin!
